The dead have no voice
The televison drones on and on about all the visits to different nations the recently deceased Pope John Paul II made, with nary a thought or mention of the thousands now dying in Africa, in the Darfur region of Sudan among others.
Somehow, I do not think the recently dead would approve of the focus.
But the dead have no voice whether they die alone or in the thousands, no voice beyond the example of their lives, with these vital ephemera of examples and lives all too seldom recognized even in this age of television and easy, rapid communication.
The dead have no voice, and rarely, very rarely, do the living…
